Pros
- Immaculate and
effortlessly luxurious boutique - Secluded and
tranquil cliff-side setting overlooking the sea - One mile from
Dubrovnik’s stunning Old Town - All rooms open to
balconies with sea views - Bathrooms have
under-floor heating and ETRO products - Suites include hot tubs and extended terraces
- Spa with
bio-sauna, Turkish bath, and chic indoor pool - Dining with
alfresco option and rooftop bar - Private Venetian
speedboat for transfers and tours
Cons
- Traffic on road
from Old Town can be dangerous at night - Boat transfers
only run during summer months - Some reports of
inconsistent food quality
Bottom Line
The 56-room Villa Dubrovnik is a luxury boutique with top-class facilities overlooking the pristine Adriatic Sea. Located away from the main tourist hub, yet still with
easy access to Old Town, the hotel’s sense of seclusion blends with impeccable
service and a romantic setting to create something rather special. Rooms are modern and inviting with big balconies and sea views; bathrooms have nice extras such as under-floor heating. Suites have private hot tubs. There are an indoor pool, spa, and fitness center on-site, along with multiple restaurant and bar options. It’s certainly one of the pricier options available in the area, but if the budget can
stretch, it’s worth every penny.

Oyster Hotel Review
Scene
Relaxed, luxurious boutique with secluded romantic ambience
Entrance to the
Villa Dubrovnik is via a street-level elevator whose smart, perfectly presented
polished wood paneling is the first introduction to this practically flawless boutique. Visitors emerge into a world of minimalist chic, and a spectacular tall
stone wall creates a palpable feeling of exclusive seclusion and detachment. The
mood of calm tranquility continues into the simple, white stone lobby area and
through into the main building — a pristine, clean-lined piece of contemporary
architecture imbedded into the cliff-side overlooking a private rocky beach and
crystal-clear, turquoise waters. The scene is coolly stated luxury throughout
with an emphasis on relaxation and privacy, largely appealing to and attracting
couples looking for a romantic oasis with minimal distractions.
Location
Set in a cliff
overlooking the Adriatic, one mile from Dubrovnik’s stunning Old Town
View on a Larger Map
The hotel is
located to the south of Dubrovnik and about a mile from the Pile Gate and
entrance to its stunning Old Town — the whole of which has been declared a
UNESCO World Heritage Site. Those who’d rather not walk the 20 or so minutes
can be ferried to the Old Town in the hotel’s Venetian vaporetto speedboat,
which also offers tours around the surrounding area (during the summer).
Dubrovnik Airport is fairly close by — just 13 miles away or a 20-minute
drive.
Rooms
Inviting rooms with Egyptian
cotton, under-floor heating, and balconies with spectacular sea views
The property has 50
rooms and six suites all superbly finished in warm, polished wood with
clean-lined modern furnishings and muted fabrics. Each room has floor-to-ceiling
windows that slide open to teak balconies overlooking the sea. Beds are
topped with Egyptian cotton sheets and spacious contemporary bathrooms include ETRO
luxury toiletries and under-floor heating. Free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs with
satellite channels and pay movies are a given, while suites also include hot tubs and a large separate lounge area. (Executive Rooms also have hot tubs.) There are also two villas, both with
their own entrance and parking.
Features
Private beach,
indoor pool, and luxury spa — not to mention a private speedboat
In addition to a chic indoor pool and private rocky beach, the hotel has a spa offering massage and
beauty treatments in wonderfully serene surrounds with scented candles and
soothing music. There is a super-sleek gym and fitness room for those inclined,
as well as a bio-sauna and Turkish bath. A cooked-to-order breakfast (usually
included) is available each morning on the terrace of the Restaurant Pjerin,
while in the evening it serves a menu of refined Mediterranean cooking. More
casual dining is available at the Al Fresco Bar Giardino, while the rooftop
wine bar provides a perfect setting for an evening drink. The hotel’s private vaporetto
speedboat also offers transportation to and from the Old Town as well as tours of the area
(but only during summer months).
