Restaurant Week

Frank is really excited about the upcoming Restaurant Week Croatia 2011. Restaurant Week started three years ago in Zagreb. This year, for the first time, restaurants through out Croatia take part in Restaurant Week. Restaurant Week is aimed at promoting local gastronomy and restaurant scene. This project itself was brought to Croatia by Zeljka Marjanovic, a marketing expert and a photographer Ozren Drobnjak. The idea is to promote rastaurant scene in Croatia and to get people go to the restaurants.Frank doesn’t know niether Zeljka nor Ozren, but Frank really likes their idea and hope to meet them sometime.

Idea is simple, participating restaurants offer three Prix Fixe Menus – 3-course menus including a glass of wine for prix fixe of 100 kn a menu. People have an opportunity to try a new spot, and restaurants have an opportunity to present themselves to new customers.

Frank chose the following restaurants to visit during the Restaurant Week: Le Mandrac in Volosko; Mare e Monti by Kukuriku in Umag and Wine Bar Tinja in Pula. Frank has money and capacity to visit more than 3 restaurants, but he’s got busy weekend in front of him. Frank will be travelling to Amsterdam and has no time for more restaurants. Anyway, Frank hopes that restaurants will join the Restaurant Week in February, as the event happens twice a year. Some rumour has it said that the second Restaurant Week might happen in May instead of February. There are more tourists in Croatia in May, so they can benefit as well. Frank will keep you posted.

Also, stay tuned for frank reviews on the restaurants that Frank will be visiting.
