Three stylish self-catering apartments in a carefully restored 17th-century townhouse within the medieval walls of Dubrovnik’s Old Town (each sleeps 2-4)
Medieval carved stonework and contemporary oil paintings come together here, to provide a homely base for exploring Dubrovnik’s magnificent UNESCO-listed historic centre. The 1-bedroom abodes are hidden away on a peaceful side street off the Stradun, the thoroughfare that runs through the heart of the pedestrianised Old Town. The location is just a 5-minute stroll from the glistening blue Adriatic, on the Dalmatian Coast – you might recognise it, as Dubrovnik has been used as a film set for HBO’s fantasy TV series Game of Thrones and the Canal+ series Borgia.
The 3 apartments are all in the same building, on the first, second and third floors. A slick wooden staircase takes you up through the stone stairwell – the details are impressive but you’ll need a good pair of legs if you’re thinking of staying on the top floor. They’re ideal for couples or families with well-behaved kids, and having your own cooking facilities gives you the added freedom of being able to plan your own schedule and meal times. The Old Town location takes you back through the centuries, and you’ll feel like a local as you walk the narrow stone alleys after dark, when the bars and restaurants are buzzing and many of the main sights are beautifully lit.
